Christina received her Master of Physical Therapy Degree from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.  She also received her undergraduate degree from UOP, where she played Division 1 basketball.  She was exposed to physical therapy after undergoing knee surgery and immediately knew it was a profession she would love.  Since receiving her degree in 1998, she has worked exclusively in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy. Her philosophy is centered on the belief that by correcting faulty movement mechanics you can not only speed healing but prevent injury.  She also prides herself on keeping up to date with current advancements in treatment by attending continuing education courses throughout the year.  She believes in hands on care and spending quality time with her patients.

Christina currently resides in Huntington Beach with her husband Ray, and her daughters Taylor and Keira.  She enjoys many outdoor activities including running, surfing, swimming and camping.

Dr. Polny hails originally from Canada and brings his 18 years of experience with him. He oversees the spinal decompression department at South West Health along with Dr. Frank Acunia. Together they make sure that each patient achieves optimal results for the treatment of their injured discs.

Dr. PainterDr. Jessie Painter is a graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida. While obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Virginia, she became increasingly fascinated with the study of anatomy and physiology, and specifically the human frame.  While attending Chiropractic College, she learned the importance of the spine, and how it affects all aspects of the body.  Throughout school, Dr. Jessie engaged in a yoga practice and was intrigued to learn that both chiropractic and yoga place a huge emphasis on the health of the spine.  In turn, she went on to become a Registered Yoga Teacher in Hatha yoga and believes that yoga is a perfect complement to chiropractic care.  Dr. Jessie focuses on correcting muscular imbalances, postural abnormalities, and spinal dysfunction.  She also empowers her patients to take an active role in their own well being, believing that good health=freedom to live the life you choose.

Dr. ZappalaJoseph  Zappala D.C. has been a chiropractor for the last 24 years and specializes in the treatment of sports injuries, especially those related to the golf swing. He treats athletes from all sports including gymnastics, dance, tennis, baseball, football, basketball and hockey. As a former athlete, Dr. Zappala understands the functional connection between what he does as a chiropractor and how an athlete performs at his or her sport. He performs his assessments and prescribes treatment based in relieving pain and restoring function to the injured area. This often leads to increased performance and decrease in the recurrence of injuries. He preaches active care to all of his patients whether they are athletes or just aspiring to be. "Use it or lose it"

Dr. Joseph Zappala is a certified golf fitness instructor and a founding member of the Nike Golf Player Staff. He graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (Now, Southern California University of Health Sciences) in 1989 and has been practicing in Costa Mesa ever since. Getting to the root cause of the problem, no matter how deep the roots are, is the key to effective treatment that lasts. Not all patients that come in for a consultation with me wind up getting chiropractic care. It is my job to decide what is the best type of care for the patient. Most of our patients need a combination of treatments, whether it is massage therapy, acupuncture or physical therapy. If chiropractic care is part of the solution to the problem, then that will be suggested. If additional imaging is needed to make a proper diagnosis, then an MRI may be ordered. If you are suffering from a  problem that no one has been able to figure out, give us a call and lets get to work on solving the mystery.
